Due to the increasing number of cyber attacks and the impact of the trend toward digital transformation, information security is becoming an increasingly important management issue. The government has also increased its messages to business leaders, emphasizing the need for greater leadership and monitoring of information security. On the other hand, information security management that conforms to standards has been widely adopted in Japan for some time now, what is needed as the next step beyond these standards has yet to be clearly defined.

In this context, we believe that legal affairs play an important role in supporting management by addressing governance, compliance, and risk management. In this seminar, we will give an overview of the changing role of information security and explain the role expected of legal affairs in the future, particularly in terms of system development and risk management.
