In this series of two seminars, we familiarized the audience with applicable laws and prevalent practices related to India competition laws. We covered various topics such as anti-competitive agreements (horizontal and verticals arrangements), cartelization, the investigation procedures, tips for compliance during the investigation etc. which are relevant for Japanese companies having operations in India. The audience was also informed about merger filing requirements, consequences of non-filing (i.e. gun-jumping), the green channel approval system (which is unique to India). We also discussed the Indian leniency program and how effectively it has been used by Japanese corporates. In the latest seminar, we also briefed the audience about proposed changes to the Indian competition laws that Indian Govt. is likely to introduce in the near future.
