We are pleased to announce that Akira Higuchi has joined Miura & Partners as a partner on February 1, 2026.

Akira began his legal career at Mori Hamada & Matsumoto and has since gained broad experience through secondments to the Financial Services Agency of Japan, Ashurst (UK), Clayton Utz (Australia), and Deutsche Bank Group in Japan. Drawing on these experiences, he has provided legal support across a wide range of matters, primarily in domestic and cross-border finance, as well as other corporate transactions.
He subsequently joined the Hong Kong office of Withers, a UK law firm well-known for its wealth management and funds practice. As a member of the funds team led by Junko Shiokawa, a partner of Miura & Partners, he further specialised in investment funds matters, with a focus on Hong Kong, Japan, the Cayman Islands and other jurisdictions.
In parallel with his legal practice, Akira became involved in the establishment of the Hong Kong subsidiary of a healthcare technology startup originating from Tohoku University, to which he had been providing legal support. He was later entrusted with the role of Representative Director and CEO of the Japanese parent company, a position he continues to hold.
